The Wise Men

So this is a wonderful poem by G. K. Chesterton.

The Wise Men

Step softly, under snow or rain,
To find the place where men can pray;
The way is all so very plain
That we may lose the way.

Oh, we have learnt to peer and pore
On tortured puzzles from our youth,
We know all labyrinthine lore,
We are the three wise men of yore,
And we know all things but the truth.

We have gone round and round the hill
And lost the wood among the trees,
And learnt long names for every ill,
And served the mad gods, naming still
The furies the Eumenides.

The gods of violence took the veil
Of vision and philosophy,
The Serpent that brought all men bale,
He bites his own accursed tail,
And calls himself Eternity.

Go humbly…it has hailed and snowed…
With voices low and lanterns lit;
So very simple is the road,
That we may stray from it.

The world grows terrible and white,
And blinding white the breaking day;
We walk bewildered in the light,
For something is too large for sight,
And something much too plain to say.

The Child that was ere worlds begun
(…We need but walk a little way,
We need but see a latch undone…)
The Child that played with moon and sun
Is playing with a little hay.

The house from which the heavens are fed,
The old strange house that is our own,
Where trick of words are never said,
And Mercy is as plain as bread,
And Honour is as hard as stone.

Go humbly, humble are the skies,
And low and large and fierce the Star;
So very near the Manger lies
That we may travel far.

Hark! Laughter like a lion wakes
To roar to the resounding plain.
And the whole heaven shouts and shakes,
For God Himself is born again,
And we are little children walking
Through the snow and rain.

I heard this in a wonderful set of lectures on I tunes u from Westminster Theological Seminary on Apologetics!!! so good! download it!

Genocide

So tonight i watched this PBS Special on Genocide called Worse Then War.

The Special was based on a book by Daniel Jonah Goldhagen of the same title.
http://goldhagen.com/books/worse-than-war

Goldhagen travels around the world to look at Genocide's in Rwanda (early 1990's), Former Yugoslavia (mid 1990's), Sudan (2003), Cambodia (1970's) and Guatemala (1980's)

A good overview found here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide

What struck me most about this is that genocide is started by a one or a small group that piggy back on the prejudice and hatred of the larger group.
And the thought that hit me was what hatred do I have not that I could do such a thing as Genocide. But maybe I could be prejudice.

Hate can start to look like truth over time, if its all you know.

Matt. 22:37-40 37And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."

LOVE everything is depend on LOVE. LOVE is the kind of word you can't say without it bringing a Smile to your face. Joy is a sign of LOVE. Joy and LOVE are the cure for Hate.

We can change something in ourselves Hate can changed into LOVE.

Isaiah 2:4
He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.

Oh how beautiful a world like this will be. Heaven is like this and I cant wait.

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

I want the bread of heaven!

I want the bread of heaven.

I'm so sick of the food of this world, it brings a sickness to my stomach and a bad taste in my mouth.

The other day I was thinking about how much I hate eating sometimes.
When nothing sounds good to eat.
i think i consume the food of the world not just physically but emotionally, mentally and worst spiritually.
The fruit of this world is stale and rotten.

The more i think about this the more i'm struck with how much off Jesus' parables where about farming and food.
The parable of the sower (mark 4:1-25) the parable of the Growing seed (mark 4:26-34) the parable of the mustard seed (matt. 13:33-34) the parable of the lost sheep (luke 15:1-7) parable of the workers and the vineyard (matt 20:1-16)

What is produced by your hands the work of your labor these are the things Jesus spoke about. And he took them very seriously.

What we build with our hands what we put in our mouths cannot be simple and flippant.
We are to beautiful (in the likeness of good) to treat ourselves this way.

i want the bread of heaven!
i want solid food that lasts.

I want manna (Exodus 16) and the daily bread that God provides (matt. 6:11)

I want to be full of His goodness!
I want to be stuffed!

ideas

These are just some ideas i have for songs not done recording them...

(I could sing forever)

(v1)
i could sing forever but what good would that do
when your dying on the street for lack of food
i could sing forever but what good would that do
would it just make me feel better for hoarding all of you

(pc)
and now would your hands and feet reach out to the least of these

(c)
have we become isreal in amos five, casulties of the idols we hold inside
have we become hoesa's wife, victims of the ways of our culture
but were still running to your alter, were still running to your alter

(v2)
i could sing forever but what good would that do
if im lying to your face and calling it your truth
I will sing forever but not here not now. the time for sowing is now, for heaven is our harvest!

(Daily i must die)
(v1)
There's something wrong here christ was crucified and yet i live rose again and i continue to sin
Something here must change should i let grace abound while sin remains certainly not repent and never be the same

(pc)
so why do i deface this all sufficient grace just put me in my place put me in my place

(c)
Daily I must die to sin only to find life again life in Christ
Daily I must lay this down all i love and all my crowns become a slave to righteous ways

(v2)
I need some holy discipline to get me out of the sin i'm in
I need some love that hurts before it gets worse oh how i need to repent

(B)
Were in the land of the dead going to the living (repeats)

tell me what you think?

Christian Epistemology

Epistemology is a from of philosophy, it is the theory of knowledge.

Christian Epistemology is the philosophy of knowledge towards Christ.

Read through this http://www.reformed.org/master/index.html?mainframe=/apologetics/sce/cvt_sce_contents.html

This is an idea from the apologist Dr. Cornelius Van Til.

Van Til is very legit! and you should look into his stuff!

These are just some things i'm looking into.

La Dispute

I've been obsessed with this band!

read the lyrics in this song they will blow your mind!!!

Shall Never Lose Its Power :
The lion isn't sacred when not sleeping near the lamb,
it is evil when it eats unless it's feeding from the damned,
all the children painted diagrams of god upon their hands,
hoping somewhere on this shaking earth they could find a place to stand.

it's a tyrant to the foreigners who've never seen the land,
they feel safer than a statue when they've got a spear in hand,
it is pregnant with the fury that the pain in life demands.
yes, it's fear--but it's a fear that understands.

and what's left is a heartbeat, speaking,
"hands off your fate, child, you'll bury yourself in mistakes."
like a dream that i had of lost faith it fades away but still thunders onward.
every pulse was a hand with its palm up,
fed with bodies and bread soaked in blood.
somewhere, someday, it'll leave but tell me, someone,
where does it go?

what tied our hands tight to the train tracks, then backed off slowly?

what does the heart say? "see the reverse. there's an answer there."

i am the moth-drenched love of dead mules,
as stable as sand in a windstorm. and i shake like a spider in the rain
when you say,
"my, my, the ways i've changed since then--the ways i've changed."
and all i ever say is,
"i'm..."

and it hits like a brick to the back of your head. like, goodbye, five times.
one for each finger.
and you say,
"my, my, the ways i've changed since then--the ways i've changed."
and all i ever say is,
"i'm tired."

we turned our water into whining, shouting, "let us be like christ."
but then the whining turned to wonder, and the wonder turned to ice.
once, we were graceful steeples, hands held upward and eyes wide in suspense.
now, we are tangled like intruders in the wires of the fence.

for a fence is built to protect what lies inside of it.
do you still feel sick? because i do....
